our cannes film festival and cannes lions events have confirmed and curzon mayfair will host the london premieres once again as part of rushes soho shorts festival - see the screenings page for more details

channel 4 have come on board to support us (oh yeah) and will choose 4 straight 8's to broadcast on 3 minute wonder after the channel 4 news monday-thursday during the second week of cannes film festival

getting hold of cameras...

people often think that's going to be the hard bit. once you start raving about this unedited cine masterpiece you're going to have shown at the cannes film festival, you'll find that cameras start appearing out of nowhere. your dad won one in a raffle 40 years ago, your aunt has one in her attic, your boy/girlfriend's dad got one off a guy that owed him money years ago and it's never been used - you get the picture. and you get the camera - just like everything else your production needs. there's always ebay too - but don't forget to schedule in testing time

about who enters...

the level playing field created by straight 8's rules makes it a great chance for people with everything to prove and nothing to lose

some of the greatest straight 8 films have been made by first time film makers. and we love that

and if you are a filmmaker, well you'd love this opportunity to return to your roots, scare yourself, enjoy total filmmaking freedom: you get final cut. all be it in-camera. we don't mind if you use a pseudonym - we just want you to have fun

we had a record 131 entries from all over the place. check out the 07 entry map and you'll see

that's one hundred and thirty one short films that might still be in heads or on paper but are now in the can

that makes us smile
